Overview Bahrs Scrub is a Queensland suburb 40 km south of Brisbane. The tourist hotspot of Gold Coast is 50 km further south of the suburb. A part of the City of Logan, the urban centre of Beenleigh is 6 km northeast of Bahrs Scrub. Once a rural pastoral land, the suburb is now an urban suburb with a planned residential area. About 2,000 people resided in Bahrs Scrub during the 2016 census.

All major urban hubs, including Brisbane, are within 30 minutes drive, easily accessible from the M1 highway. Bahrs Scrub residents have the luxury of making a quick trip to either Tamborine mountain resort or the waterfront suburb of Jacobs Well. Bahrs Scrub offers a mixed rural-urban lifestyle while living next to abundant green reserves. There are good schools and several parks in the area. Beenleigh’s shopping and entertainment centres are less than 10 minutes away.
History of Bahrs Scrub Bahrs Scrub was originally a scrubland suitable for pastoral communities. The suburb is named after the Bahr family, who were among the early Europeans to settle in the area. Carl Wilhelm Bahr, a German, resided in the suburb around the 1860s, followed by his son Wilhelm Bahr. A Queensland newspaper mentioned it by Jimmy-bark Scrub in 1866. However, it was frequently called Bahrs Scrub 1874 onwards. It was part of the Albert shire and Gold Coast before Bahrs Scrub was transferred to Logan in 2008.
