Overview With an 1834 population, the locality of Wyreema is booming. The recent constructions and improvements on the Toowoomba Karara Road, which passes through the locality from North to South, is a welcome change.

History of Wyreema Wyreema got its name from the railway station line that was constructed there. While not much is written about its history, it is believed that the name is not of Aboriginal origin, unlike most of the neighbouring localities.
According to reports, Wyreema used to be part of the pastoral station of Eton Vale and just began as a railway junction. The urbanisation of the place started in 1913 when a milk condensery was opened. Before that period, Wyreema was primarily made of farms that were 40 to 160 acres. By 1915, when the railway line was extended to Wyreema, it effectively became a four-way junction where the stations met.
