Overview Alphington is a suburb part of Yarra and Darebin cities. It is positioned 7 km from Melbourne’s CBD and is cornered by Ivanhoe, Northcote, Fairfield, Kew, and Kew East. Three significant roads intersect within the expanse: Heidelberg Road, Chandler Highway, and Grange Road. The Alphington Station is situated right at the centre, giving easy access to the locals. History of Alphington Before it became an independent suburb, Alphington was once a part of the Jika Jika Parish. The area where Darebin Creek sits served as the traditional country of the early owners in the area, the Wurundjeri clan. The rise of the Alphington started with the establishment of the Bridge Hotel, together with the Darebin Creek Bridge in the 1840s. After which, the Alphington Post Office was erected in 1858.
