Overview Bethania is a suburb within the local government region of the City of Logan, Queensland. It is situated south of the Logan River and is approximately 25 kilometres from central Brisbane. According to the 2016 census data, it has a population of 5,383.

History of Bethania Bethania was first inhabited by Germans in the 1860s and is now home to people worldwide. A small township had grown up by 1866. The suburb's name was derived from 'Bethany,' a biblical Israelite settlement. A Lutheran church was built from slabs on the railway line in 1864. From 1866, a cemetery was created next to the church, containing burials. The current church was built in 1872, next to the first church. Church Road got the name of the road leading to the said church.
