Overview Booral is a coastal area that settles along the western section of the Fraser Coast Region. It is bounded by Urangan on the north, Wondunna on the northwest, Bunya Creek on the west, and River Heads on the south. Meanwhile, the waters of Hervey Bay surround the east. Booral Road and River Head Roads are the major roads in the area.
Living in Booral As a coastal area, Booral offers picturesque views of the surrounding waters. There are three main residential sections, though the site is mainly industrial because of its closeness to the Great Sandy Strait. Accordingly, most of the employment stems from saltwater aquaculture, which covers the farming of soft-shell crabs, sea cucumbers, and fish. History of Booral “Booral” is a Kabi term that defines as tall, while “Burrall” means a location for shell mounds. The locality earned this name because there were a lot of shell mounds at the foreshore, which was associated with the earlier settlers. They lived in the area for more than 6,000 years, banqueting on shellfish. These Aboriginal people also trade shellfish with bunya nuts from the Bunya Mountains. In the 1850s, one of the oldest structures in the town, the Booral Homestead, was established by Edgar Thomas Aldridge.
