Living in Cranley Living in Cranley means living a primarily rural life. With the very few people who live in the area and the land is cultivated as small farms, life is slow in Cranley. Yet, the site is host to the Baillie Henderson Hospital, a mental health hospital in the region.

The hospital is considered a heritage listing. The Palm Lake resort retirement village is also one of the main places visited in the area. The presence of the retirement village and the mental health hospital makes Cranley very peaceful.

History of Cranley The rural locality of Cranley was named after James Cranley, a farmer who resided in the district and immigrated with his family to the region. It was a railway station that was established in the 1870s that made Cranley accessible. Urbanisation is seen in the 2016 construction of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, which opened in 2019. This helped out a lot in the accessibility of the town, with around three main highways passing through it.
