Wallsend surrounds Elermore Vale to its north, Lambton to the east, Glendale to the south and Edgeworth to the west. About 5,500 residents lived in the suburb at the 2016 census.

History of Elermore Vale Unlike many other Australian suburbs, Elermore Vale doesn’t trace its origin to any convict colony. It grew out of the housing and different needs of miners. The discovery of coal in the modern-day Wallsend area led to settlements in the 1860s. Then, it was called Wallsend South and was home to several cattle and poultry farms. In the 1900s, Elermore Vale transformed into a residential hub, and the next few decades witnessed the establishment of schools and other facilities.
