Numerous arterial roads border it; the whole of its south-western corner consists of the Blackbutt Reserve. History of New Lambton Heights This suburb originated as a coal mining township. The land was incorporated on the 8th of January 1889 to become a Municipality that covers 2,560 acres. It used to have 1,464 people in 1901. The Parliament of New South Wales’ Act formed the ‘City of Greater Newcastle’ in 1938, which incorporated New Lambton Heights and other municipalities into a single local government area. The government requisitioned the New Lambton Public School during the 2nd World War.
