Overview New Lambton is a suburb of Newcastle that sits six kilometres west of the city’s central business district. The suburbs neighbouring New Lambton are New Lambton Heights, Lambton, Broadmeadow, Kotara, and Adamstown. Based on the 2016 census, New Lambton is home to 10,048 people.

History of New Lambton New Lambton was originally a coal mining township as the New Lambton Colliery is situated just across the suburb’s railway in Adamstown.
The area was incorporated as a municipality around the late 19th century. By 1901, New Lambton already had a population of 1,464 governed by a council consisting of a Mayor, Justice of the Peace, Town Clerk and Aldermen.
