History of Enoggera The word Enoggera was misspelled due to a typo at the Government Lands Office, where the letter "U" was confused for the letter "N." The name Euogerra was intended to be a contraction of the Turrbal phrase "youara-ngarea", which means "sing-play" or "song and dance." John Brennan bought six hectares of land in Enoggera in 1845. Then, Thomas Hayes moved to the area six years later and purchased thirty-three acres of land. Enoggera began as a small farming town with vineyards and orchards.
