History of Lindfield The suburb was home to the Kuringgai indigenous people before the Europeans became active around 1810. The colonial government set up a timber gathering camp in the area, and during the 1840s, it became the hub for growing and farming. It began to develop in the latter half of the 19th century when the Lindfield railway station opened. With this, land values increased, and a lot of professionals moved into the area.
