History of Logan Village Captain Patrick Logan, the administrator of the Moreton Bay convicts colony, landed in Logan Village in 1827 following the river route, which was later named after him. The 1842 British survey placed the area as the navigation head of the Logan River. Since it was within the 50-mile radius of the penal colony, free settlers were not allowed until 1842. Then it was a safe haven for escaped convicts and timber traders. After the penal colony was closed, leasehold lands were given to settlers to start farming and cropping. In 1862, the Logan Village became a part of the freehold area leading to new settlements. The Beaudesert railway line reached Logan Village in 1885, and the river was bridged in 1897. This aided the growth of the suburb. In 2008, it was made a part of the City of Logan.
