The suburb is located 5 km north of Brisbane. It is surrounded by the suburbs of Gordon Park, Kedron, Wooloowin, Albion, Windsor, and Grange.
Living in Lutwyche Lutwyche is a residential suburb that was thriving even during the prewar years. It is well-served by several public transport systems, including the Brisbane Transport buses. The Lutwyche busway station also serves it. It is home to a shopping strip and is currently home to several businesses, including a Coles supermarket, bakeries, food and general stores (7-Eleven stores), and lifestyle amenities such as fitness centres, pubs, restaurants, and cafes. There are also numerous heritage-listed sites in this suburb, including the Windsor Air Raid Shelter and Wooloowin State School.
History of Lutwyche The suburb is named in honour of Alfred Lutwyche, who was a Supreme Court judge in NSW. In 1864, Lutwyche owned land in this area and later donated it to the church and his active participation in the construction of St. Andrew’s Church of England. When he died, he was buried near the church, and this burial site is a prominent feature of the church.
