These heritage-listed sites include the Brisbane City Council Tramways Substation No. 8, Wooloowin State School, Holy Cross Laundry, the former Albion Fire Station, and many Victorian-era houses. History of Wooloowin The origin of this name is derived from a local Indigenous Australian word that means “pigeon”. Before the 1970s, some portions of the nearby suburb of Kedron were included within the boundaries of this suburb. The same goes for the nearby suburb of Kalinga, although the latter was officially gazetted as a suburb in 2015.
