Overview North Rocks is one of the oldest suburbs in the Greater Western Sydney area. At the doorway to the Hills District, where the Cumberland Plain seeks gradual elevation, the suburb is 26 km northwest of Sydney CBD.
The M2 motorway passes through North Rocks, separating it into two halves. The northern half is under the Hills Shire, while the Parramatta council administers the southern part. The 2016 census registered 7,965 residents in the North Rocks.

History of North Rocks The name North Rocks came from a massive sandstone outcrop in the area. The Burramattagal clan inhibited North Rocks. It came under the English occupation when they moved to Paramatta. However, the place was exclusively reserved for use by the governor. The earliest European settlers were convicts. In 1841, rocks in the area were brought to build jail walls in Parramatta. Later stones were used to construct a check dam on Lake Parramatta in 1856.
North Rocks had its first post office in 1894. The year 1958 saw the re-zoning of the area home to 40 farms and orchards. Soon new residential and commercial areas began to take shape, and it became a major suburb in outer Sydney.
