Overview Located 23 km northwest of Sydney’s Central Business District, Oatlands is a prestigious suburb in the Greater Parramatta region. One of the fastest-growing localities, it is under the administrative jurisdiction of the Paramatta city council. According to the 2016 census, Oatlands had 5,560 residents. The suburb borders North Rocks and Carlingford to the north, Paramatta and North Paramatta to the south and Dundas to the east.

History of Oatlands Oatlands is named after Oatlands House, a prominent and one of the earliest cottages built in the area. Percy Simpson constructed the hut in the 1830s and named it after, inspired by Oatlands Park in England. It was also home to large sheep farms beginning in 1840. The Oatlands Golf Course came into existence in 1931. Oatlands was part of Dundas West until 1991 when it was notified as a separate suburb comprising the area extending eastward of Cumberland Highway till the Vineyard Creek.
