History of Randwick Randwick got its name from a village of the same name in Gloucestershire in England. The first home built here was a stone house in 1848 and was named Blenheim House. In 1859 Randwick became a municipality, and in 1990 it was declared a city. Randwick has a vibrant history. Ritz Cinema, Hooper Cottage, St Jude’s Church, and Big Stable New Market are some of the many heritage sites of Randwick. Transport has been under development, and in 2019 additional feeder tramways, roadways, and light railway lines have made it easier to commute to and from Randwick. Today Randwick has a truly cosmopolitan culture and is a great place to reside.
