History of Wallington Wallington got its name from Wallington in Hertfordshire, England. Before the European settlement, the Wautharong people inhabited the township who hunted birds and fish in nearby Lake Connewarre.
The European settlement started in the area in the 1850s when Fairfax Fenwick subdivided his properties. Much of his property is where Wallington now stands. The Wallington township was established in the early 1870s, with the Post Office opening in 1872.
