History of Yeerongpilly Yeerongpilly sprang from an Aboriginal word that refers to the rain coming. Other reports also conveyed that the term derived from the words "yurong", which defines as rain and the suffix "pilly", which means watercourse. In the earlier years, the suburb was part of an area called Boggo. Between 1885 and 1890, allotments in the expanse were established, and these were further advertised and auctioned.
