Living in Grovedale The location of Grovedale near the Surfcoast Highway makes it easily accessible from the Geelong city centre. There is also an excellent public transport system in the suburb consisting of buses and the rail network. It is also home to Grovedale College and a few other respected educational institutions.

History of Grovedale The original name of the suburb was Germantown since the original settlers to the area were of Lutheran German origin. They settled in the area in 1849. By the mid-1860s, there were approximately 70 families that lived there, along with the establishment of hotels, flour mills, tanneries, and some schools. It was in 1915, following World War I when its name was changed to Grovedale.
