Overview Kellyville is a suburb of Sydney that is part of the Hills District Region. It is located 36 kilometres from the Sydney central business district. It is neighboured by the suburbs of Kellyville Ridge, North Kellyville, Beaumont Hills, Glenhaven, Stanhope Gardens, Castle Hill, Glenwood, Bella Vista and Norwest. Based on the 2016 census, Kellyville has a population of 27,971.

Living in Kellyville Kellyville is often referred to as one of the most “liveable” suburbs because of its peaceful surroundings and rural charm. However, Kellyville has been tagged as the most expensive suburb in Sydney to purchase a vacant block.

The main commercial area in the suburb is the Kellyville Village that has a significant supermarket, dozens of speciality stores and retail hubs. An expansion of the shopping district allowed for a Coles Megastore to open in the suburb.

Primary and secondary schools operate and Kellyville, and there’s also a special needs school for children aged 4 to 18. The Bernie Mullan Sporting Complex serves as the suburb’s central recreational hub, which features an indoor gym, tennis court, cricket grounds and soccer fields.

History of Kellyville It is believed that the suburb was named after its landowner Hugh Kelly. Kelly, an ex-convict, operated a hotel in the suburb called “Bird-In-Hand”, while the construction of the White Hart Inn took place in the 1820s, which became a popular stable and accommodation. Following his death, Kelly’s estate was then subdivided and was granted to several individuals.

Kellyville remained semi-rural for most of the 20th century until further developments were seen from the 1960s to the 1980s.
