History of Boondall Boondall originated from an Aboriginal word that means crooked creek or 'cunjevoi' (Alocasia macrorrhiza). The original proprietors of the area around the Boondall Wetlands were the Turrbal people of north Brisbane. The Christian Brothers, a Roman Catholic order, established St Joseph's Nudgee College in January 1891. On April 6, 1925, Boondall State School first opened its doors.
