The locality itself encompasses many commercial businesses, particularly at the northern section near the train station. History of Geebung The origin of the name Geebung sprang from its original railway station, jibung, which referred to a fruit of the plant called Persoonia media. In 1925, the Geebung Baptist Church was established. And in the course of World War II, a portion of the suburb hosted the Chermside Army Camp. Years later, commercial businesses started. And by 1949, the Brisbane City Council had allocated the northern section of the community for general industries.
